KUOW Presents: Finding Transcendence at Green Lake

There’s little mystery in what the body needs. Hunger, fatigue, and pain, for example, are clear signs of privation that help us survive. But many people feel a longing for something that goes beyond the needs of the body — something Rabbi Daniel Weiner calls transcendence. In his work, he meets a lot of people who aren’t religious, but they still want a modern way to talk about spirituality. Rabbi Weiner is the author of the book “Good God: Faith for the Rest of Us.” KUOW’s Jeremy Richards recently met with Rabbi Weiner at Seattle’s Green Lake park to see what transcendence looks like in the modern world.
